The Studio Story
The idea of having an art studio began around the mid 1980’s when Dale and his brother salvaged three hundred 4’ x’4’ x 16’ timbers from a defunct meat packing factory in Holland, MI. We said, someday we’ll build a studio. These timbers set stacked, covered and elevated in our yard since the mid 1980’s.
Fast forward 30+ years.
The summer of Covid….
There were travel advisories, social and health recommendations, etc. What to do?
That summer, along with our good friend, Mark, Dale began construction of a 22’ x 24’ art studio. Starting with the three hundred 4’ x 4’s, Dale began the project by sawing some of the timbers into 2" x 4"s for window and door trim.
The rest of the 4’ x 4’s were used as framing.
1200 board foot of siding was shipped in one trip from the mill in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan via our 2003 Chevy Astro Van that included two passengers. It was packed full!
All of the windows and doors, shelving (bi-fold doors) and furniture for the studio/showroom, flower baskets, etc. were purchased preowned. We purchased used items for the building of the studio whenever and where ever it was possible.
If you are interested in visiting the studio or you would like to purchase an item you have seen on the website or our Facebook page, please contact us through this website or our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/share/1LbuWbw4aZ/?mibextid=wwXIfr
